Refocusing communication strategy to achieve a higher impact

Effective corporate communications has never been more important.

With new technology blurring the distinctions between internal and external communications, organisations today have had to rethink their approach.

We are experienced corporate campaign managers offering deft and sensitive handling of internal and external communication initiatives. We can suggest ways to get the balance right between ‘traditional media’ and newer forms of social media.

We also help companies address tough issues – be they external reputation and regulatory issues, or internal transformations resulting from a merger. We identify strategic choices – and manage their execution and communication.

Communication services include:
  • Stress testing of corporate messages
  • Crisis preparedness & simulation workshops
  • Key message development
  • Stakeholder engagement training
  • Internal & external communications
  • Online reputation management
  • Executive coaching
Why do clients hire us?

We are recognised for offering joined-up strategic advice relating to change management and marketing communications to companies operating in complex stakeholder environments.

We use the communication strategy to stress test basic business choices.

Ensuring corporate messages pass the stakeholder ‘smell test’.

Building in-house capability

Strategy alone is not enough.

We put strategic plans to the test through execution workshops and simulation training exercises. These modular workshops are designed to build internal capacity to ensure executive teams are ready to respond to issues as they arise.

We operate as an integral part of a team. We bring organisational transformation experience and can help formulate strategy and execute plans for acquisitions and post-deal integrations.

Our experience is gained from highly regulated environments – covering areas such as union negotiation, environment, CSR, human rights and industry association engagement.

Issues management services include:
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Regulatory & engagement
  • Organisational (re)design
  • Post-merger integrations
  • Change management
  • Programmes that facilitate cultural change
  • Issues management audits & training
  • Programme / project management
Reputation is measurable.

Qualitatively:
Although reputation can sometimes be difficult to measure we urge our clients to commence new projects with a clear notion of internal / external perceptions before embarking on a major change initiative.

Results are also measured by the ability to influence and lead senior decision makers during difficult and sometimes ambiguous choices.

Quantitatively:
We analyse data before and after the project.

Our results can be measured through profit, share price as well as research tools demonstrating impact on stakeholders. Given the importance of online engagement we also use the latest online diagnostic systems to track brand and corporate activity – both online and off-line.

Know-how.

Crisis preparedness and workshop simulations.

For executives of a US multinational company we run regular stakeholder and crisis simulations. These workshops last 6 hours each and allow a group of managers to experience realistic scenarios – also pressure-testing internal procedures and systems.

The simulation exercises demonstrate to the executive team what internal processes are working, as well as highlighting improvement areas. These exercises led to improved ‘media training’ techniques for relevant spokespersons and the introduction of new internal governance practices.
